Nov. 26th is Shop Small Saturday!

Today is “Shop Small Saturday”! We love the charm of small stores and restaurants (some of which have been around since we were kids!).

We’ve literally met and spent time getting to know the owners and shop keepers of the above-listed stores and are impressed with their vision, persistence and professionalism. (See our reviews on Yelp!)

These hard-working “store keepers” and their teams provide the best selection of carefully chosen products,  and amazing customer service. A genuine overall experience!

We look forward to shopping today!

SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY®

The 2nd annual Small Business Saturday® is
a day dedicated to supporting small businesses
on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.
On November 26, we’re asking millions of people to Shop Small at their favorite local stores and help fuel the economy. When we all shop small, it will be huge.

PLEDGE TO SHOP SMALL ON NOV 26

prettypinkponies recently met marida at a tradeshow in los angeles.  We love her interesting and wearable designs.

The look is modern, minimal, “clean”.

semi-precious stones with metal…semi-precious stones with leather cords…
…so elegantly bohemian.

tailored, yet laid back.  Just what to wear with your white tee and jeans this summer.

…or your yoga pants…

so zen…

…delicate…

and simply lovely..

don’t forget to follow our blog via Google Friend Connect for a chance to win one of marida’s pieces!  !
THANKS, MARIDA!!!

Sepia Smiles (images)

One of the best things about blogging is meeting people with similar interests.  Roseanna, owner of Sepia Smiles, is one of those people whose interests and styles we find inspiring.  We’re lucky to have met her through our blogging adventures.

Roseanna’s aesthetic is simple, clean, restrained femininity.  Her pastel color schemes and collection of vintage household items is an elegant interpretation of Anthropologie’s “country chic”.

The Sepia Smiles “look” is apparent in Roseanna’s interior designs, home decor, hand-made stationery and even her website layout

As you know, we, too, love making stationery, lots of white-space in our design layout, vintage items, and many other things Sepia Smiles finds ‘pretty’…

We look forward to offering Sepia Smiles products on the Pretty Pink Ponies site soon.
Nice job, Roseanna!!!

Gui: Make yourself comfortable. I’m just gonna call my sister back .

Would you like some champagne or white wine?

PPP: No thanks, honey. So, you’ve been busy styling Harris Pilton. Anything interesting you’d like to talk about?

G: I love Harris Pilton. She’s a sweetheart and very private. I’m not at liberty to divulge much else.

3P: Fair enough. What we really want to know are some tips to looking fabulous. You’ve done hair for celebrities, TV show projects, music videos and as well as being the primary personal hair stylist for musicians on tour…For the everyday corporate rockstar who can’t wear a fabulous pink Afro-puff to the office, what are some tips to always looking chic without looking out of place?

GUI SAYS:
1. Get haircuts regularly – Fresh haircuts and color make as big of an impact as a facelift. Think about it. Your hair frames your face. When dark conservative suits create uniformity in the workplace, one’s haircut can subtly convey your own professional brand and individuality.

2. Communicate clearly with your stylist – bring magazine clippings with images of women whose hairstyles you like…it’s important that the model’s face shape, skin tone and hair texture are similar to yours. Don’t expect a stylist to turn your mullet into Slash’s Rockin’ ‘do.

3. Consider your lifestyle when choosing a style – If your daily life involves wearing a construction hat, it’s not practical to ask for a bleached and overly-coiffed ‘do (a la Gwen Stefani) especially if you can’t maintain weekly root touch ups.

3P: Great tips, Gui. Thank you for your expert advice. Xoxoxoxo.

**note: Gui’s statements were communicated with a sexy Brazilian accent. Can’t forget that**

making strides..(video + images)

We love surfer/model Malia Jones (“MJ”).  She’s picture perfect and an incredible athlete.

Her physique is an example of strength, flexibility and womanhood.  She’s athletic and lean yet has the curves to fill out a bathing suit properly.  She captures [in “guy language”] “the beauty trifecta”.  And, in the catty world of modeling, competitive surfing and life in general, the “beauty trifecta” is a winning strategy.

So we ask our friend, Adam, what we can add to our current resistance training workout to increase flexibility and establish our own winning image “strategy”.  We’d like to have long, runway-model legs to make big beautiful strides in this world.

Adam examined whether or not our workouts incorporate one of the basic elements of exercise:  stretching.

Do you balance your resistance training with stretches?  “…Well…um, ‘yes’?”, we reluctantly lied.  He didn’t buy it for a second.  Thankfully, he provided us with some examples of basic stretches.  Thanks, Adam.
